Madhubani

In the villages of Mithila, walls used to speak before paper did. Madhubani art was born on mud-plastered homes in Bihar, where women painted stories with fingers, twigs, and rice paste. Today those same stories live on handloom, canvas, and paper — bold, bright, and unafraid. Peacocks dance beside lotus ponds. Gods, fish, and sun motifs fill every empty space. There are no blank corners in Madhubani — just like life, everything is connected. The lines are fine, the colors are earthy yet loud: indigo, vermillion, turmeric yellow, leaf green. Each painting is a prayer, a festival, and a piece of daily life stitched into geometry.
